Baby Craniosacral
Therapy

A gentle, responsive treatment to help your baby feel safe, settled, and supported after birth.

Baby Craniosacral Therapy

to help your baby release any tension and start life in the best possible way

Babies experience birth too.

Even in a natural delivery, the journey through the birth canal involves extraordinary pressure; particularly on the head, neck, and spine.

This pressure is part of the design, but it can also leave the body compressed, twisted, or stuck in tension patterns that affect feeding, digestion, sleep, and settling.

Craniosacral therapy for babies offers a gentle, deeply respectful way to release those patterns and support your baby’s nervous system to relax and rebalance.

Why Babies Might Need Craniosacral Support

In the first few weeks or months after birth, your baby may experience:

  • Colic or digestive discomfort

  • Feeding difficulties or slow weight gain

  • Poor sleep or difficulty settling

  • Glue ear or repeated infections

  • Signs of physical tension or emotional overwhelm

All of these can be linked to the physical and emotional impact of birth.

During birth, a baby’s head must rotate and adjust through the birth canal under significant pressure; research suggests that a baby's head can be under more than 40kg of pressure.

Their skull is designed to adapt: some bones are formed in soft cartilage, others in flexible membrane, allowing the head to shift and mould during birth.

But these structures don’t always release fully afterward.

When tension remains in the cranial membranes (fascial tissues around the brain, where the skull forms from)...

It can subtly distort the shape and movement of the bones around the brain, brainstem, and face.

This can affect everything from digestion and drainage (as in glue ear) to nervous system regulation; making it harder for babies to feed, rest, or feel safe in their bodies.

A Whole-System Approach: Baby and Mum Together

In each session, we treat the baby and mother together.

Why? Because babies co-regulate through their primary caregiver’s nervous system; often through the subtle interplay of mirror neurons.

If a baby is held, soothed and fed by someone who’s holding unprocessed trauma in their own body, the baby’s system will often mirror it.

By working with both of you, we help settle the shared field between mother and baby; giving both nervous systems a chance to relax, reset, and breathe again.

What to Expect in a Session

Sessions are gentle, unhurried, and always led by the baby’s cues:

  • We often schedule around nap or feeding time, working while the baby sleeps or feeds if that’s what they need,

  • We’ll begin by getting to know you both, letting your baby settle into the space & into my presence

  • Hands-on treatment is soft, subtle, & attuned, focused on releasing torsional or compressive patterns in the cranial & fascial tissues.

  • You remain with your baby throughout.

  • We work with, not on, their system, following what they’re ready for.

As a practitioner, I hold space for your baby with a calm and regulated presence — allowing their system to do what it’s designed to do: heal, grow, and find its way back to ease.

When to Book

Baby craniosacral therapy is typically most helpful from a 3-4 weeks after birth and onwards.

Many parents come after a difficult birth, or when something just doesn’t feel right; even if they can’t quite put it into words.

Whether you’re concerned about a specific issue or simply want to support your baby’s development in the most gentle, effective way possible, this work offers space for real, lasting shifts.

You don’t need to have all the answers.
You just need to start with care...
